So many of us have had to work from home over the past 12 months. People who have never worked from home before have found themselves having to adapt to a new way of working and juggle home and work life together.
Working from home can be great and can make it easier if you need to fit around childcare or other commitments, but it does require you to have a lot of self-discipline as it is very easy to get distracted and find yourself caught up in household chores or chatting with other family members that may be also at home.
Ideally, the best way to work from home is to have a dedicated workspace. If you have a spare room or even a corner of the room that you could transform into an office, that would be ideal. You can have a desk and set up with all the items you need and shut yourself away from everything else whist you work. You may find that you actually enjoy working from home and look to doing a job that allows you to continue doing so. Some businesses have found that it can actually be beneficial having people working from home at times as often they can work more hours if they do not have to travel. If this is the case with your employer, you may be asked if you wish to make it more permanent. Some people have used this time to set up their own self employed business which allows them to work from home. This can be a great new challenge and one that could prove successful if you can manage your time effectively. If you are thinking that working from home may be something that you are likely to do for the foreseeable future, then why not think about investing in a fitted home office. There are a number of companies out there that can create a bespoke home office for you in any space you have available. It may be that you have room under your stairs or that you have a small box room that is not being used. The advantage of having a fitted home office is that the furniture is made and installed to fit the exact dimensions of the room. This means that no space is wasted and therefore you can fit more in. It also means that the finish is one fo quality and sophistication.
