Finding the right Contractor for your Home Renovation

There are many contractors out there who can promise high quality work on your property, but the fact is not all of them are telling the truth. To make sure you don’t find yourself a cowboy builder, we’re providing a short list of tips.

  • Don’t get quotes on estimates, make sure you contractor has set prices.
  • Should be able to find testimonial or references, if they refuse it’s not a good sign
  • They should not be too keen to start the job immediately, it can look good, but a builder who takes their time and considers the options are usually better
  • Should offer you the contract, or signs the contract that you give them
  • You should never be asked for money up front, even if they need to buy the materials, they should have access to enough money, and they will if they are a successful business.
  • Finally make sure they don’t only accept cash, they could be attempting to avoid VAT.

One final general piece of advice I to do your research, make sure they work for who they say they work for, and find out about their relevant experience.
