This time of year, many people notice a huge increase in their energy brills. If you have gas central heating then the gas bill is the one that you are most likely to notice a big rise in. You are also likely to see an increase in the amount of electricity you use but not to the same extent as the gas. This is because as the nights and mornings are darker you will have to have your lights on more which use electricity.
We all want to try and keep our electricity and gas bills down but during the winter months it can be hard. Firstly, ensure that you have a thermostat for your central heating. This will tell you what the temperature is of the room and show you at when temperature the central heating will kick in. You can also set thermostats to come on and off at certain times of the day and alter this for different days of the week. So for example, you may set it to come on for an hour at 6am on a week day when you have to be up early for work but then change it to 8am at the weekend.
